Migrated two separate Sitecore solutions from 9.2 to 10.4 as a sole developer. Required custom database migration tooling and a partial rewrite of Unicorn DLLs to handle edge cases in the target version.

The challenge

Qiagen had two distinct Sitecore 9.2 solutions that needed to reach 10.4. The content database was abnormally large, and the target version introduced virtual language cultures at the application level that broke standard Unicorn serialisation.

What I did

Planned and executed the full migration of two Sitecore solutions, solo
Wrote custom tooling to migrate the oversized content database incrementally
Identified incompatibility in Unicorn’s handling of virtual language cultures and rewrote the relevant DLLs to restore functionality on Sitecore 10.4
Delivered both solutions within a single engagement
